Complete Character Stat Points Custimization

time I spend trying to get those perfect stats where I want them.
Then this thought came to my mind. and I wanted to share it with you guys
to see what you all think about it.
Since there is a 1 alt server to this game, shouldnt we be able to have set stat points.
then each level up add to those stat points?
Now obviously you wouldnt start out with a 21 18 18 21 18 17 dwarf,
or a 18 19 21 18 18 19 hafling, but you could strip those races down
to their bear minimums. Then each level up you, could gain 1-2 attribute points,
and customize your character the way you want him/her/it to be.
Instead of spending countless hours on a stupid roller just to get
the brief satisfaction of rolling that 5 stat you where looking for.
How could/would/should this work?
Lets says you want to be a Male/Female Dwarf Cleric:
You would stat out with these stats(not sure about hp/mp from these numbers):
Str 10, Int 7, Dext 7, Con 10, Wis 7, Cha 6,
Every even level (2,4,6,8,10 ect), you would get 2 attribute points to allocate to the stat you perfer. Every odd level (1,3,5,7,9 ect), you would get 1 attibute point to allocate to the stat you perfer. 20*2=40 20*1=20 = 60 attribute points altogether. Staff could create some quests that would allow you to gain the remaining 6 attribute points that would make your character a 6 stat. but that is up to them and how they preceive this change.
Each stat depending on their race would have the same stat caps as they do now.
You wouldnt be able to get a dwarf over 21str 18int 18dex 21con 18wis 17cha.
or a hafling over 18str 19int 21dext 18con 18wis 19cha.
Please keep in perspective that this was just an initial thought and is still in rough draft form.

19 x 19 19 19 x
x x 19 19 19 19
x 19 19 19 19 x
19 19 19 19 x x
ETC.
If you want better, you roll for it. Or you can accept those stats for free. (The x would be the bare minimum available for that race).

Then you only have to roll the 5 other stats will still save lots of time trying to get a decent 4-stat or higher.
Set stats could be like this :
Fighters + Zerks: max str rolls for the 5 other stats.
Clerics + Paladins max wis rolls for the 5 other stats.
Mages: maz int rolls for the 5 others
Druids and thieves: Max dex rolls for the 5 others
Rangers: Max Charisma or dex rolls for 5 others.
If it is too difficult to find out what set/locked stat each class should have they roller can be changed so when rolling the person rolling can chose 1 of the 6 stats to lock then roller rolls for last 5.
This way ppl will still have to roll but the chance of getting good rolls faster is higher and new players will actually get encouraged to play the game instead of being stuck on roller

The roller works fine.. it has for years. I don't know about 1a and don't care cause i dont play it.. but I don't like messing with it for multi. It would be rediculous to be able to just pick 4 stat chars right off the bat and then have your party.. all this game takes is time.. its not hard so I dunno why people try to make it even easier yet. An easier game means its easier to accomplish "end game" and get bored and move on to another game. Maybe I am one of the last few but I'd rather spend the time rolling and be proud of my own luck/determination to sit and roll them instead of having stuff just handed to me.
Edit: remember when everyone thought 3 stats were great? now we're begging for free 4 stats? crazy talk.

Only spellcasters need be 4stat to get the best out of them, needing wisdom for mana.
I like the idea of locking one stat, but definitely not four..even rolling 3stats seems to take forever. Edit: Atleast, the 3stats that you need
On 1a I don't see rolling being an issue, you only need 1 of each class normally, where on main one could want 50+ chars.

Think it's already there John just needs to hit the switch. And it's a good change, do you want people to roll or to play?
Edit: I could be wrong about the switch part, he might use levers. All in all tho, it was a universal approved change at the time.

If any stats are automatically given, nothing better than a 3stat should be freebies.

In other games, normally you add in your own stats from a pool, add onto them by the level, or a combination. New players can have bad characters because they're..new, they may not know exactly what they're doing when adding them in.
Considering all that, it is in a way being "given" a character, getting max stats, but still, rolling on main is way nuts. I'd still be rolling if I didn't get abunch of free 3stats, after rolling for, how many weeks? (In terms of actual time, probably 7 or 8 hours, gaining a single 3stat character on my own).
And I know what I'm doing! What for the new player when he finds out how many characters he can log, as well as what's neccessary and what's (virtually) perfect?
The option to lock 1 or 2 stats I think would be a great idea, on main only. I still try and get new friends I make to play Nightmist, even if I don't much play myself. Don't think new players are impossible! Of all I've ever tried, 3 of them stuck with this game for a year or more. Every month or so I say to my best friend "ready to play Nightmist?". Though he's one of those who has to "see" what he's doing, I still try! You guys should too!!! The playerbase doesn't fall on staff, it falls on us
Edit: The sad thing is though, is that better stats will lose value, mostly perfect rolls. I can't say I really care about that one negative aspect, does anyone else besides people who own multiple 6stats and barely/don't log anyway?
