"Fine. We will leave Terance, after you do something for us." Mantis says as he wills his demonic-looking tail back into hiding. "Find me your best short sword, and..." Turning to Steven but keeping his eyes on Terance. "I will get a weapon for you too Steven, and I dont care if you dont want it or not. I will carry it if you dont want it, and keep it until you Do use it. Now, tell me what weapons you have the most skill in wielding." In order to deter any atacks from Terance he looks back at him with his piercing green-eyed (and silver-eyed) stare. "I will pay a good price for your wares. Even if you do not wish to sell them to me." His hand hovers around Oathen's hilt for a moment. "Do not seek to end your conflicts here." He reiterates.
I am very sorry, if not for something I did, then it is for something I will do.

Midnight...
Bremen went to his room locked the doors, and placed some simple wards. He did not sleep, he had no need to, instead he considered all that had happened. I need help, he thought.

Bremen sent out a telepathic message to the King of Eagles: I need your help, friend. Trouble and opportunity at the first generator.

I will be there soon, was the only answer. Satisfied, Bremen kept watch through an open window.

Morning...
As the sun rose in the East, Bremen sensed the others begin to wake up. I will keep watch until the Eagles arrive, Bremen thought, Then I will join the others. As the sun continued to rise, Bremen reached out with all his senses, listening in on what was happening below. Finally, with the sun high in the sky, Bremen spotted three Giant Eagles aproaching quickly. He also spotted the group of soldiers marching towards the Inn, and recognized Galeb among them. hold those soldiers off, friend. I have to warn the others here, Bremen told the lead Eagle, then rushed downstairs.

"Galeb is comeing!" he shouted.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The King of Eagles had flown half the night and half the day, followed by two of his strongest flyers. And now, exausted from this journey, Bremen was asking him to fight. Then agian, he was only supposed to hold off a few humans. They couldn't even fly. The Eagle looked at his target again. He was aproaching from the oppisite side of the castle. Good. The soldiers wouldn't even see them comeing. Okay, we go in low around the castle, then grag the lead soldiers and leave them on top of some of these buildings. In and out fast. Go! All three Eagles folded thier wings and dove towards the castle, fast as lightning, barely missing the walls as they shot around the castle to attack the soldiers from behind, open thier wings at the last second, and STRIKE! They hit without warning, the King of Eagles aiming for Galeb, knowing the soldiers couldnt possibly react in time, knowing that if he missed, one of the others would be able to grab Galeb instead.

"Continue to march..." Galeb murmured to the soldiers behind him who then murmured it to soldiers behind them.

"Four more steps and everyone drops, pikes pointing up..." Again, another wave of murmur's went through the dozens of men. However, their eyes did not stray from the road ahead; only their lips moved and, even then, just barely.

Galeb wasn't completely deaf. His half-elven ears could hear the eagles as they approached. Something...was strange however. Their wings flapped awkwardly...They were tired.

A few more steps and the entire troop dropped to the ground, pikes high in the air. Their points glistened in the sun-light, threatening all that would strike from above. Galeb, simply crouched down inside the folds of his troops, keeping eyes and ears to the sky.

Of course, as Galeb expected, the last line or two of his men were slow to react, reaching the ground a good few seconds after the rest of the men.

Her eyes follow the movements of everyone in the room, waiting for the initiation of spells or reaching for weapons.

Watching Silverwizard retire to his room, her arm relaxes and her hand falls away from the crossbow.

After a moment, she walks over to the window and gazes out thoughtfully. Perhaps I wasn’t a good choice for this mission… Ah, I’ve been here less than a day; I can do this.

She turns around and looks over the remaining people gathered around the counter.

"Galeb is coming!" he shouted.

Katianna remains still, watching with great curiosity what everyone does now...

Terrance snarled a bit, refusing to look at Steven as he slowly got to his feet. He walked to the back wall of his shed and pulled a few weapons off the wall. He grunted and threw several blades to the ground in front of Steven. Longswords, broadswords, short swords, scimitars, falchions; they all fell with a loud clatter.

"Take whatever you want then get the hell out..." he growled.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For a moment, Steven hesitated. He didn't want a weapon...but...he didn't want to start a fight either. To him, the most important thing right now was to leave Terrance be. If he didn't want to talk to Steven, then Steven couldn't do anything about it. He swallowed hard and grabbed the broadsword with both hands.

"...Err...th-thank you, Terrance..." Steven said as he back away slowly, turning to leave after a few moments.

"M-Mantis, g-get something and let's go..."

Steven sighed and shook his head as he rested the flat side of his long, weighted blade on his shoulder. It had been so long since he had fought...he wouldn't be surprised if he had forgotten how to.

Silverwizard heard the call but he still spent several minutes mediating to get himselves under control. He then ran out of his room and burst into Bremen's, "What is it? Is Galeb attacking in force?"

As he says this he starts casting shields and runs through combat spells. His silver robes start glowing with a magical light seeming to fill with power.

"Galeb is coming!" he shouted

"Galeb" she murmered softly "You were all speaking of Galeb. He is the one you encountered last night? The one Steven claims he knows, or rather knew. The one I am unknown to" she smiled wryly "supposedly"

She should have been more worked up over this. She should have been reacting, jumping up in alarm... doing something. Bremen was shouting, he knew the danger they were in. She knew the danger they were in... and yet she didn't move.

"Which direction?" she asked softly "From which direction does he approach?"

However then she stopped, glancing up at Bremen. As she met his gaze her eyes betrayed her, showed her fear, even if her actions did not... She spoke again, her voice grimmer "No... that is not the question for me to ask. I know he approaches from the castle. What I want to ask is who travels alongside him... and how long we have before they have us trapped here"

((OOC: You hardly have the right to shunt me and Deval out of the story for minor inactivity bract... a lot of our actions have been hindered due to you not being that quick on the counter posting. So leave us be, and we will post when we have the time))

As Aladar walked out of the shop, and scanned the nearest building he realized something.

Where is everyone? Figures... Oh well, we needn't be thanked for our actions...

Walking upwards along the side street heading towards the square where he, Ulantees, and Bract had defeated the soldiers Aladar realized that there were eyes watching him. The townspeople were sitting behind the windows of the buildings, whispering things, only a few of which Aladar could pick up.

"They shouldnt have come... They will kill us all, Blasted fools... We should kill them ourselves"

At the mention of more violence Aladar quickened his pace, finally reaching the square where Ulantees stood cleaning his weapon. Aladar spoke swiftly, and with much urgency.

"Ulantees, We must leave. The townspeople are reacting violently to our little stunt here. The man in the poison shop would hardly consider selling me his wares... A quick exit would be desireable"

((Oh by the way... Squee, I am only assuming this, but once Galeb reaches town you will only be controlling him right? Because as I see it right now, me and Deval will catch up with the squad before they reach the city, as well as Bract is cutting them off unintentionally. So... Is this just going to be worked around, or *Talking to everyone else thats posting here* Will you guys come to the conclusion that the soldiers have met some travellers on the road who are less than willing to bend to their will, and come help us out? Otherwise I guess me, Deval, And Bract can just assume we are at a different entrance to the city?))

((Of course I'll be controlling Galeb. He's meh baby. XD

Anyways, considering Galeb was able to report back to King Elwin from the church by the end of the night, I would assume the castle is hanging directly over the city. If anything, it would take less than 30 minutes for a group of people to walk from the castle to the city. The only reason that Galeb and company haven't reached Karfendale is because the eagles have slowed him down.

Once the eagles are taken care of, Galeb and his troops will head directly to the Dancing Wolf.

...I hope that cleared some things up?))

OOC: My apologies, I wasn't suggesting anyone be excluded from the story at all. I have no doubt we'll meet up, just when and where. I've considered mentioning this before, one of Bracts 'character flaws' is his crude interaction with others, leaving him shunned frequently. As such, he doesn't depend on others; hence he won't wait (and I may be a bit impatient to catch up the time-frame - sorry for that).
Also, it has seemed to me that the King's Castle is in Karfendale (or adjacent to it), so Galeb is already inside the city (as I see it, though there's plenty of room for it to be either way - good idea to get it cleared up now).
Again, I don't mean any disrepect to Bean or Deval, I think our little section of the story is going quite nicely really. /OOC

Mantis looks through the pile and picks a short sword that is slighlty different than the rest. "You should try to regain the frame of mind that you had when you made this sword." He says, looking over the blade. "This one is of better quality than your newer ones." Mantis tosses Terance a small sack of platinum coins. "That should more than cover the cost. Farewell." Mantis sheathes his most recent aquisition, and follows Steven back to the Dancing wolf.

Charon walked over the the window and peered out, trying to see what was going on with the incoming soldiers... To try and see if she could answer her own question about their numbers.

She was almost glad that she could not yet see them, but as she heard the two 'warriors' response to Bremen's announcement...

"Why..." Charon murmered under her breath almost silently, casting a glance at Opie and Blaster... and on seeing the dwarf swinging the axe she was somewhat more glad she had chosen to step away from them "Why do I suddenly feel a lot less confident of my survival here today?"

((ooc: *Charon whistles innocently* :) Actually it varies. sometimes Opie is blue, others black. Same with Blaster- sometimes red, sometimes black ^^))

Standing with a grunt Ulantees falls in step beside Aladar, "I've never seen a town so full of cowards as this one", he says loudly. As Aladar and Ulantees finally pass the crude walls encasing the town he continues, "Now I wonder where our beastly companion has gotten to. What I would give for a pair of hooves right now", Ulantees sighs as their head towards the the silhouette of Karfendale against the darkening sky and rolling thunderclouds. "I suggest we try to be at Karfendale before that storm hits us, it looks to be a savage beast before us, to Karfendale with haste."

Change of plans, the Eagle King told the others, Grab thier weapons and get some altitude. As the three Eagles hit the back row of soldiers, they grabbed pikes with beaks and talons, shredding them with thier beaks as they quickly gained altitude.

"Galeb is bringing a small group of soldiers-I wasn't able to detrmine the exact number," Bremen said, "We can't let them reach the Inn thinking we're still here. Mounting Dusk, he quickly rides out to join them. “The ‘runnaway’ never came by this route; he’s either used an alternate path into the city, or he found some trouble in the forests on the way here.” He says as the trio approaches the city gates of Karfendale.

As Mantis and Steven ((I am assuming that we are walking together)) approach the Dancing Wolf Mantis lets out a small sigh. "I will find the Dragonsoul..." He mumbles to himself. "Then I will be able to right what has been done to you Cat..."
Looking back up at Steven he sees that the sword he carries has no sheath. "Hold on a second Steven." He says as he stops. "You need to have something to carry that in." He bends down and digs in a water trough pulling out a scabbard, looking like it was made for Steven's sword. "There, you can use this to hold that in." He says as he hands the scabbard to Steven.

"Everybody, stand. Keep your pikes up. As far as I'm concerned, if you let it down, you deserve to die," Galeb mumbled as his entire troop got to their feets. Slowly, they all began to walk, their bodies closely tucked together.

Slowly, Galeb placed a hand over his eyes to keep out the sun. After a moment, he spotted the Dacing Wolf...it was close. At this rate, they'd make it their soon and wouldn't even have to bother dealing with Eagles.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Steven tilted his head to the side as he looked at Mantis.
"...But...h-how...y-you...a-and...err..." he stuttered. However, after a moment, he just shut his mouth and took the scabbard. Even Steven knew it was better just not to ask questions sometimes.

Quickly, he sheathed his sword and slung it on his back. The sword weighed a lot more than a short sword but it wasn't anything Steven couldn't handle...he hoped.

Suddenly, however, Steven stopped in his tracks. A strange looking man rushed out screaming something. Steven tried not to pay attention; evesdropping wasn't right.

Land in front of them. This is going to get rough, but we don't have time for anything else, the King of Eagles said, and all three Eagles landed in front of Galeb completely blocking the road.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Simply by paying attention to what was going on," Bremen replied, then left the Inn. Once outside, he told Mantis and Steven telepathicly: Galeb is on his way. Come quick. Then he morphed into a Cheetah and raced towards the battle.
