How To Make Fighters Beat Mages/druids

Armor Base:10

EQ by - anyone apart from mage/cleric/druid/zerk

What it does:


Has a [your dex] % chance of reflecting any spell cast at you back on the caster. So if i was on Chiquita:

You raise your hand out creating a devastating blast, injuring Beatrix for 75 points of damage.
You raise your hand out creating a devastating blast, injuring Beatrix for 74 points of damage.
You raise your hand out creating a devastating blast, but Beatrix's Mirror Shield reflected it back on you for 76 points of damage.
You raise your hand out creating a devastating blast, injuring Beatrix for 75 points of damage.
You raise your hand out creating a devastating blast, but Beatrix's Mirror Shield reflected it back on you for 76 points of damage.


Figures would probably need tweaking.

supported but only for fighters/thieves/rangers

pallys can beat mages/druids 1v1 already if pallys had this it would just make them overpowered

While your at it give them peircing weapons that can go through like 50% of armor but have a lower bd kty

Yes but you don't really play properly.

I only posted this because I fought a fighter in the final of 1-alt PT with Chiquita. Honestly, it was embarrassing. I drank like 1 pot and used a couple of crystals and then it was over. I'd rather that there was a chance of things being fair. This seems to be a good, balanced way of doing it.


And yeah, I guess pallys don't really need it.

I think I've played just fine for plenty long.

Fighters are just not the class to use in a 1v1 against a mage or druid because they have too much armor. Just because they are out-classed in that case they should be given some magical ability to counter spells?
I think not.

I don't want to have it turn around and be like- O, zerks have no armor so they should have melee ability to counter-attack people. That is basically what this is, but for a different class, and it is ridiculous in my opinion.

I think not.



OK so have it your way. It just means that anyone who actually wants to stand a realistic chance of winning 1-alt PT has to enter on a mage/zerker/druid. Which is a sorry state of affairs.

And anyway. It's not an ability, it's an item - using said item causes you to lose base AC, making you more vulnerable to rangers/fighters etc, but giving you that bonus against mages/druids.

its pretty sad when a crit with 40mish of equip could probly lose to some expert druid with hawk talon and fireleaf tunic thats not even arch

yeh I agree give them the shield, I also think they should have an ability like execute that uses all stam and gives some lee-way for high AC counts, maybe give em smite but call it execute :) or if JLH wants to spend a little time have the abillity use all stam and lower AC for the time it takes to recover ur stam, cause ur more open to be hit or someit, just another random idea like the shield but yeh fighters need something to step em up.

or just remove the mage update what happened few years ago..?

remove stoneform/thorn shield so druid only can cast gaea's blessing?

that would solve the problem.

I think it just comes out to class balances-
Fighters and rangers are weak against mages, druids, clerics, and pallys.

Mages and druids are well off on their own, but can randomly be killed by beserkers.

Beserkers are poor to use against fighters...


So really to win, you just have to hope that the class you are weak against loses or doesn't fight you.

Or maybe the winner would be determained by who is the more skilled dueler or who has the better equipped character.....like...it...should..be.

I'll find a link to my post where I suggested alternatives for balancing classes.

EDIT: Forget it, no point even contemplating ideas like these, as no one cares enough to actually implement them!

i dont like the idea of making every class balanced against everything. it should be as is, like every class having weaknesses. ste, you just want balance and things decided by equip because of all the freebiz questies you got. if you had normal, earned things, you would feel the same as anyone else. or just be like rappy and get some skill on 1v1 with a fighter, cuz he's actually beat a mage before, time it right and you can get just when AoP wears off and round the mage. every class needs a weekness to exploit so no one class is almighty and overpowered.
