Can anyone tell me what a spyglass actually does, before i buy one? Does it let you avoid pkers? What's it range? How is it used?
Thanks

I believe it allows you to see all characters/monsters in a specified direction b4 going in that direction it is used with /spy (direction) i do believe may be wrong though

If you use it well, then yes, it could help you avoid pk'ers. But it's really just useful for exploration and mapping, since after you memorize an area you'll already know what you're up against. It's really good for finding traps. However, there are better things to spend your money on, and this isn't really an essential item.

You can use it to /spy to see who is hidden on the same square you are occupying
Can be helpful to see Thieves that are covert. druids that are camoed, mages that are invisible and so on.
You can use it on a crit that is unseen/covert as well not giving away your location. A spyglass can be useful in avoiding pkers and also pking.
A spyglass is fun to have and I consider them very useful.

It is virtually essential if you wish to obtain a Bracelet of Hope....

It also allows you to see items on a square. No ones mentioned that yet.
