Just wondering how much gas has jumped for everyone since Katrina hit...

Before Katrina- $2.45 a gallon for Regular

Now- $2.99 a gallon for Regular in-town.
Was driving today and was shocked to see it! My dad just told me he saw $3.09 for regular on his way home from work, and I just saw $5.80 on the news (Believe it was Mississippi)!

I'll post picture if I go out tonight.

Just drove past downtown, $3.17 a gallon from the same place that it was $2.99 this morning!

Didn't go past any gas stations offshore though. Might be cheaper there...

Live in South Jersey by the way.

Before Katrina the gas was around $2.67.

It started off yesterday around $3.17.

It's down to $3.09 I was told.

I was also told the prices are to get to $4.

I wish English gas prices were that low. It's been over double that for years here now.

Gas prices here in Georgia reached $6.07 per gallon in Sandy Springs, Georgia. Here in Jackson where I live the highest I have seen it was $3.29. Our local news warned us early in the week that prices could rise as much as $.75 by weeks end.

As it turns out the pipeline that supplies the greater Atlanta area ruptured and was shut down which resulted in a mad dash to the pump with rumors flying that we wouldn't have gas for 48-72 hours. The pipe line is now operating at 50% capacity and the Governor of the great state of Georgia stepped in this morning and put a cap on the price of gas at $3.50 per gallon. This because many Atlanta area gas stations were jacking the price well over what they payed for it.

So my hat off to the Governor. Sure would love to see those stations have to pay over $3.50 a gallon now. Just so those rip off stations would have to lose what they stole.

Yeah over here in England we are paying the equivalent of over $7 a gallon if my maths is right. Sucks to be us i suppose. AND it's only going to go up, hooray!

Although our petrol is about $7/gallon, it's also a lot better i think, as i read somewhere US petrol is 85% octane, whereas the normal octane over here is 95%. Some stations also sell 97% octane for a few cents more per litre.

Actually here in the US in most places its about 90% with a 10% methanol addative.

EDIT : oh yes i forgot to mention that doesnt make a moose right now though cause there is no gas in my town period, or anywhere close for that matter.

Ya I thought I was reading somewheres that there are states that are completly out of gas at this point. I know on CNN it was saying that cops where taking the gas out of the cars scatered about from the hurricane to put the fuel into their patrol cars as they have no gas and no where to get any. :(

gas prices were high before the hurricane hit, so you cant blame all of it on the hurricane

Was about $2.40 a gallon when the hurricane hit...2 days ago it was $3.32. Haven't seen it since then, my usual driving route doesn't pass a gas station.

What does minumum wage have anything to do with this?

Gas is $3.59 here.

They get paid more, so they can afford higher gas prices.

I believe in the Triune God;God the Father, the Son , and the Holy Spirit.I believe that while I was helpless and sinful, Christ died for me. Therefore, I now have the righteousness of God, old things have passed away and I am a child of God. I cannot be separated from the love of God, Christ lives in my heart by faith and therefore, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I have been chosen by God and appointed to bear fruit for God. I resist the devil and he flees from me.
