This isn`t a post to bash the meanie who wrecked the Orc exp. All in all the monster selection for this area is great. Nice exp off granites and trolls and even our little friends the healers get some nice exp. So 3 out of 4 monsters are decent.

But the area is lacking something. Possibly a third level or something much more simple. A mini boss. In regards to a mini boss it would be awesome to see it spawn in random squares. I know all of this is pretty general and I should think it out more, but I just basically wanted to point out that the area is in bad need of a facelift.

I think orc exp is 30x, that really sucks. Make it aleast 55x since black bears are 50x. I think a mini-boss would be cool.

Mini-boss may be nice, but do you have any idea(s) at all on what it would be, and what it would drop(if anything)?

Orc Chieften.

The Orc Chieften stands at almost 7 feet tall. Clad in the bones and flesh of fallen adventurers, his smell is almost as frightening as his decayed and yellowed grin. He lets loose a ferocious war cry while brandishing his bloodied broad sword which gleams of the pain and suffering of countless souls. The Orc Chieften is in healthy condition.

"The Orc Chieften shouts something and summons an Orc to his side."

"The Orc Chieften savagely attacks you with his broad sword for 42 points of damage."
"The Orc Chieften roars loudly then attacks you with his teeth for 11 points of damage!"

Orc Chieften: Tok tu rok!
Orc Chieften: Ar glu ien fack!

"You attack the Orc Chieften with your Halberd for 56 damage, Killing him."

Orc Chieften: Se rah une glor...!

The Orc Chieften dropped a Broad Sword.

((Just an idea I thought I'd throw up into the air. I've never actually created monsters...so I can't really make up any stats. From what I've written above, I think you can pretty much see what the Orc Chieften does.))

mmmm now thats some good mini-bossage? heh I'd like to see Squee's Orc Chieften added, free broad swords! lol However I believe when this topic was discussed before one of the staffers I think it was went on about how not every area needs a boss and etc, but I think this lil Orc Chieften would be great. Nicely done Squee.

i really dont beleive this area needs a boss...not every area needs a boss. orc exp should be raised some, atleast 45...Zephie said she was working on something for Orc Caves a while back, might have been scrapped though

I wanted to be able to select a button giving me the options-
Make the orc exp atleast decent.
Make it go up as you get further into the cave.
Make a 3rd level.
Make a boss, that is in the direction of lvl 15-25 crits, and give it a level limit on that particular section of the caves.

I think the orc caves was an old good place for people to train that has become rather useless. Giving it these things would give people something to explore about it, reason to log on and go to it sometimes, and give the caves back their old life, if not more.

I've never played Revelations and I have never played RoK in depth so I simply didn't know.

I was just thinking of what an mini-boss in the orc caves might be.

Im likeing the idea. but theres something about the name that is kinda weird. till now ive never heard that word befor. i think something like Orc King, Master Orc, ect... (but not that plain). I also think that the esp should be raised to atleast 55+ the little bats give that come on.

When I picture orcs, I see them in tribes, not organized societies like Kingdoms and such. A tribe will be run by one chief, undisputabley. Usually, this chief will be selected based on how well he can fight.

An Orcish King doesn't seem to make sense. Unless, of course, you count the caves its castle... Also, Orcish Master doesn't really roll of the tongue. Maybe Orcish Slave Driver...but that's all I would be able to think of.

Hmm...but I suppose Orcish Chieftan is a bit time-worn. Maybe something along the lines of...

Orcish Heirarchy? (excuse my spelling)
Orcish Slavedriver
Orcish Brute
Orcish Collossus

I don't know, I'm just throwing out ideas here.

Orcish Champion would suffice. The giant brute who stands up the back and comes and pounds anything and everything in to splatty meat when called upon by his Orcish kin.

Edit: Otherwise the 'champion' in this case could be a distant relative of the Orc, like an Ogre or a Troll.

I think giving him his own 'large' square would be cool, and pretending like he is very massive, such as the idea for giant cinder beast being about 10x a regular cinder beast.

If he were a mini boss for this area, i think he should have something around x5 hp of giant centipede, and hit about the same as a mutant beetle. This would make him a difficult boss for the level 25 parties that usually train there, and usually use pots rather than clerics. (unless i am thinking in-correctly)

I dont know how to spell the C word for huge, something like, Collossal, but Collossal Orc or Ancient Orc maybe?

Give him a drop that wouldn't cause advanced players to go kill him every single time he spawned, it would attract too much attention to the caves and cause players training their lvl 20ish crits to be jumpped by archmasters constantly, very annoying, i remember. Something like a 0 armor braclet dropped 2-10% and have him be hourly maybe? Or maybe a level 17ish druid/cleric weapon with a base between staff of elements and warhammer. Could just drop some adv. or reg healing potions, like 10-15..that'd be original (multiple drops from 1 kill that is).

Ehh... I don't think the Orc Caves should be just limited to people who have level 25 alts. I think this mini-boss should be able to be killed by a hearty group of late journeypeople and early adepts.

I suggested Broad Sword as a drop because...nobody really cares about it. It's something you'd just end up throwing away (unless you're willing to run to BT to make an easy 1k or whatever the value is).

Also, Collassus was the name given to the giant that guarded Troy (made of brass, I think). His head was high enough to touch the clouds and he wiped out entire fleets easily. He was only defeated by Jason and his band of Argos when they punctured Colassus' ankle, spilling his precious oil, leaving him a piece of useless, scrap metal.

Of course, I could be entirely off. Colassus could just be the name of some famous gladiator that I can't think of right now.

Either way, the word 'collassal' is devried from that word...or perhaps vice-versa...I'm not entirely sure. ^^;

Colassus, a statue of gigantic size. The name was especially applied to certain famous statues in antiquity, as the Colossus of Nero in Rome, & the Colossus of Apollo at Rhodes. It was indeed a giant statue, but as for the story you described, I'm uninformed in that area.

I for one am tired of hearing about RoK or Revelations.
I also think of Orcs as having a fairly unorganized social structure, almost tribal. i think that Chieften (sp...?) is fine.

edit: oh yeah, Deval, i like your Download suggestions. :) all good/great songs.

Orc Chieften was also my first incline...but I've never actually created monsters before. I can write down descriptions and something...but I can't work with numbers all too well...

If only someone who could develop monsters would help...

First off, whoever is stupid enough to think copying is taking an idea that a retarded two year old could come up with (no offence Squee all I ma saying is that the idea is a common one that requires no stretch of mental power simply because it is the logical idea) is pretty dumb, keep the chieftian. Next, if ya need some monster editing stuff, here there at least used to be a program for monster editing, my comp is acting up and will not let me go there, but if it does exist, it should help, use the powers of your own chars, and what you see of orcs to guide your hand.

I'd offer help, but all i'm good for are descriptions. Though i always could give it a shot... (fairly good with numbers, i guess)

I want the orc caves to either give better exp. and/or a mini boss but the reason i train in the orc caves is that ive never been pked in there and if there are better things added to the orc caves, more people will start being there whether they are pkers or not. But of course there was a mini boss added to the desecrated church but i barely ever run into people there either but of course thats a whole other topic because after lvl 20 you cant go in there and its really small. :) :) :) ;)

Well, I'm going to be honest. I would probably kill it pretty often, I get bored and go to bosses like this and Elshira.

If "Change the experience on Orcs back to the 60-65xpd it was or something near it such as 55." were a choice, I would prefer that over a mini-boss. I suppose I wouldn't really use it to train -whistle- but I think it's what would help the orc caves the most, rather than just people making quick runs to kill some easy mini-boss.
