As you all may have seen people r getting tired of holding onto their press pass and are starting to sell them. well i have a solution for all this. there is only one catch. jlh would have to be in on it. I suggest to collect the people around nightmist with press passes and offer then a job. their job being is to make a nightmist newspaper. now people will think how are they going to make a paper? but i have that figured out. we can take 7 classes and have a different section for them in the paper. each person will be designed to gather information such as good training spots new armors or new weapons. the person will also need to keep on the clan in which their top 1-10 class people are in. this may also give some other clans a hey were behiund lets get our tooshui mooving and get better. i also have an 8th person for the press. his/her job would consist of following around any fights. he/she gains no exp and loses no exp he/she can't be hit but thiefs can covert over them he/she goes sees who wins his/her fight and quickly goes to press building to get a dif plaque to write on and the fight that just occurred is now put in. this will reduce on people trying to fake fight and it getting flammed. my suggestion for the top guy/girl who gathers all information and puts it into one be crane only if he wants the job.

i havent fully thought this plan full but its thouth enough to post tell me what u think

p.s. i also forgot the people who participatre from this shoukld get a percent of the gold when every paper is sold

Press passes were given to players for that very reason. Havanor was going to publish a Nightmist newspaper with interviews, updates, etc. Never happened tho. Several topics were created asking what kind of content would the players like to see in a newspaper, and some really good ideas came out of it. But then Havanor went AWOL and over time many of the players who had the passes either quit or lost interest.

Best solution for selling press passes is to attempt to sell it. JLH will delete it ^_^

I would like to see the newspaper published. Maybe another member of staff or even a group of players could begin gather info for the first addition. Just maybe if some interest is shown JLH will make it happen.

I agree....something like that would spark some interest into many NM newcomes. I know i for one would support it in any way possible.

If they would start this again, the staff member should take back all press passes currently out and re-interview. Doesn't seem too fair to base the reporters/editors on people who were playing however many years ago. I'd be interested in doing it, I run my schools paper and publish editorials in each issue (not for the past 2 months, been sick).

What could people really be interested in seeing? /mosh log eliminates the use of an article about that, someone could what, sit and watch each triplex battle? Each proficiency tournament battle? Seeing all fights published would become a cabbage measuring contest. Hot training spots? It's not as if areas are added often.

I will start an online Nightmist news paper if nobody else will. I've been wanting to do this for a long time, but people would obviously have to write articles, and i'd need alot of people for sources of information. If nobody else wants to do it, i will. I got some good webspace and alot of time before i go back to college.

they might as well be deleted, thier only purpose was to grant access to the paper's office and in the first round of resignations they were deleted from players who resigned.

I was originally a writer under Havanor when the system came into play. I tried to reinstate the program awhile after, but I ran into the same problem that Havanor did. People are lazy. There was a serious lack of applicants for the job and even when I did get writers a few amount of them actually took it seriously. Only like one person actually submitted an article after a month of being on the newspaper staff. Take this into consideration.

What could people really be interested in seeing?

At least for the first published..

The story behind Nightmight.
Stories behind the classes, areas.. etc.
Interviews.
Memorabilia.
Examples of people's RP'ing work.
Fan/Art Work.

I'm sure there's more to add.

There's definitely some brilliant writers out there.

It's just too bad that it never went through. As I'm sure there's quite a bit of people who wouldn't mind receiving/reading the newspaper. Of course, you would have to keep it interesting.. so, people would want to continue reading it.

There is tonnes in the game to flesh out. The story substance and history of nightmist is still pretty much skeletal, there are so many things that could be built upon and fleshed out via an e-zine it's immeasurable, the problem is 99% of Nightmists residents are quasi-retarded. People building Nightmists future (and past), by whatever medium, need to be carefully selected by the administration as these individuals would ultimately be the ones to lay down much opportunity for further development of the world.

NM isnt being updated enough to post "new" weapons and such. It's all downhill from here, might as well quit while you can.

It may just be me, but it sounds like a few people are actually interested in this idea. Is there any staff member willing to try it again? I believe I said before, I am in charge of my school's newspaper and publish articles, I would gladly help with this. I have an exact newspaper template on Publisher (custom-made by the teacher in charge, from what I understand it took a ruler, lots of popcorn and coffee, and a ton of patience), I could make it look just like a paper. I'd also gladly write something each week.

If no staff are interested in it, I don't see why players couldn't just take the initiative themselves and ask JLH to put a link on the NM site. If anyone is interested in that, memo me on Deimos. I can't be on the computer long for the next few days, maybe a week or two, but I can check memo's occassionaly. If you leave me a memo, I'll give you my e-mail, I'm allowed to check that.

I am relativily new to these boards but I have been with Nightmist for almost three years now. Although most of you don't know me, I am in fact a very good writer (when properly motivated and with a spell check tool! ^_^ ). I am currently write at a 12.9 reading level but I am able to adjust my writing levels depending on the preferences of the community. I did apply for the position last time it was brought up, but unfortunately, did not recieve the position.

In fact, I still have the original article I used to apply for on my harddrive. If anyone decides to restart this program, I'd be happy to submit my prior piece or a new piece for their review.

Oh, and, I work for free.

I've got an awesome editorial somewhere, about how people "pretend" to be involved in politics and look at government as a "I hate the president, therefor government suck!" Talks about how people all of a sudden wear anti-(insert politician here) T-shirts, yet when pressed about issues, they have no political knowledge. I usually put humor in my editorials, but this one was dead serious (saw a few students at my school doing this, and was agrivated).
