Here goes
Blue = Typed in
Red = Returned text

/who Squee
- shows as off-line -
/alert Squee
You have set up an alert for the character Squee.
Squee has logged on.

Make sense? It alerts you when said player logs on.

I like this idea... that way if you REALLY need to talk to someone and your training(or traveling) youll know when they get on.

oh btw it could make a certain sound when they got on as well.

After they log on, would the alert be deleted?

Yes, it'd be a once only thing.

But for you, Squee, I'd set it everyday...

hm its a good idea but heres a addittion.....

Lets say B puts a alert on A.When A logs on how about it says
You alerted B.
This lets both ppl know that the other is on.
this would work well with this idea.

When you logg off it may as well clear the list too so you don't miss them logging on, talk to them and then see the next time they log on lol.

Not a bad suggestion :)

i may be i minority in this, i don't know, but i liked to sort stalk and hunt down my favorite pks. this would have been invaluable for those times where a big party of juicy mid level creeps runs down a tunnel and logs off. it allows jerks like me to wait at an intersection you know they'll cross and have macros ready for thier alert.

all that's totally cool with me, i like it a bunch, but i know i'd only use it for hunting. because everyone i'd want to talk to finds thier way to clan chat or friend chat which alerts me of thier presence already.
wouldn't it be funny if rich had registered this name first, and you were bickering with him?

I find it would be more thoroughly used for the purpose Dognapot stated. Hence why I oppose.

Great point dognapot. I would not use it for pking purposes since I do not pk .. (now, before anyone goes off that i have killed them, think back, there was a reason am sure if i have with any of my alts). It would definately be used as you stated.. Perhaps is not such a good idea after all.. Let you guys wait for hours if necessary, gives me more time to train in other areas! lol

I never even realized this could be used for PK'ing purposes. o_o

...And I can't think of any way around it.

PK'ing purposes aside, what if you just didn't want people to be aware you were logging on? Sometimes I don't feel like talking to anyone, and when I log on I pray that no one see's me pop up on their friends list. I oppose this idea, it would become agitating for people who are being cyber stalked, harassed in general, or simply want some solace.

I oppose as well.

If you like talking to them I would assume you have them on friends list, or they could even be in your clan. Effectively telling you when they log on.

I see this being used purely for pking purposes.

It's a decent idea and I liked it till I realised that it does have a down side, however its not like you can't type /memo player hi page me when you get on we need to talk :)

edit: and if you need to go dnd /memo player Im dnd atm so flood my crit with /friend Despair and I'll page you

Well just because you alerted to there presence doesnt mean youll know exactly where they are.. /toggleloc would still have its effect..but ... What if the alert was like Aim's alerts. you set it to a crit when they log on but only to people in your friends list. if there in your enemy's list then you cant apply this to them..

But if you ask me, This is just one of those Picky picky ideas that wants to make the game a little more easier ..

Ok, I pondered how it would be used for pking purposes. You could just make it to where you couldn't put an alert on someone unless they have been offline for 10 minutes or longer.
Things would be so much easier if people would only see them my way...

I like that idea. However, I oppose since it could be used for pking pourpeses. May I suggest that it whenever someone puts an alert on someone, the staff get notified. If the person that got an alert put on them got pked by the person that put an alert on them, then the staff would be notified. Then the staff would have a little chat with the pker... :)
